Crapple Cup 2008

Remember the post from a week ago where we were getting the RV ready for our trip to Pullman?  Well it turns out that was a bad idea.  The RV died in Cle Elum on the way to Pullman last weekend.  We are pretty sure it has to do with something the Jiffy Lube people messed up when they were working on it.  The RV ran fine on our way out of town but when we pulled off to get food in Cle Elum, it just died and would not turn back over.  Since it was Friday night, none of the Cle Elum repair shops wanted to help us but one of the shops did give us some phone advice.  He said it sounded like a problem with the fuel filter (which had been replaced by Jiffy Lube).  So Josh prepared to run to the Napa Auto Parts store in town, but Kyle decided to ask a guy getting gas if he would drive them into town.  What happened next is unbelievable... The guy ended up having a fuel filter in his car.  He climbed under our RV and found out that it was the right one and then proceeded to change the fuel filter for us!!!  The poor guy's dad had died and his son with spina bifida had fallen out of his wheel chair earlier in the week so he said he was trying to get some good karma.   After he replaced the fuel pump the RV would start but it would idle really low and then die.  The guy assured us that it would drive fine on the freeway, but would continue to die when we slowed down.  We decided to continue eastward and see how it went.  We drove to the next rest stop outside Cle Elum and stopped there for a while to stare at the engine and talk about what to do.  Then we stopped in Ellensburg to finally get dinner and continue to stare at the engine and talk about what to do.  Next we stopped in Vantage to get gas and make the final call to continue on to Pullman.  After pulling over after Colfax to remove our Husky tire cover and trailer hitch, we finally rolled into cougarville at about midnight (we had left Seattle at 1:45PM!).  Laura literally lives on Pullman's Greek Row, so it was very stressful for Josh having to drive through a sea of drunken cougars yelling f**k the huskies and trying not to come to a complete stop so the engine wouldn't die.  We got parked and set up at Laura's and were drinking by 1:00AM, ahhhh the college life.
Saturday had another huge let down with the stupid Huskies losing the apple cup and continuing their longest losing streak ever.  Josh and Kyle went to the game and sat in cougar territory.  There were no Huskies in sight.  The only highlight for Josh was they sat near the tunnel so after the game Josh was able to run down and yell at Tyrone Losingham.  He is sure Ty heard him and felt a little vindication.  Saturday night we drank and played pictionary.  Fun crazy times!!
Sunday morning we went to Laura's favorite breakfast place "the Old European" and then headed back to Seattle.  The drive back was so LONG!!  It felt 20 times longer than the drive there.  I think it was because I slept on the way to Pullman.  Thanks for driving Josh and thank you RV for getting us home.  Now we get the joy of taking the RV back to Jiffy Lube to convince them they messed it up and need to fix it.

On the road.  We have no idea what we are in for!!

We still love our RV.

Trying to stay warm.
